WELCOME TO OUR MALAYSIAN OPEN HOUSE!
2007-Nov-7 | posted by primarybasic
Hello ALL! Welcome to our 1st ever open-blog in conjunction with the recent 'Eid ul Fitr celebration. We extend our warmest wishes to our visitors, friends, family and every other blog-hopping enthusiast. I would have put up this post sooner if not for the fact that elisa, rotinina, mosh and I were all frantically scouting for pictures and images to make this presentation. Leave your prints in the comment area, and liven up the atmosphere. Do have fun, enjoy the food and cherish the company.
You can post comments, and also pictures of yourselves (in your raya clothes would be terrific!) and food of course. Go crazy, chat away, eat, drink and be merry.

Lemang is a traditional Malaysian dish normally served during eid. It is made from Glutinous rice mixed with coconut milk then poured into long bamboo sticks lined with banana leaves. The bamboo sticks are then roasted on a slow fire to cook the rice. Once cooked, the bamboo is split open to reveal a cylindrical shaped sticky rice cakes that are slightly crispy on the outside but soft and creamy on the inside. The cylinder and cut up into smaller pieces and they are very yummy to eat with rendang. |

malaysian blog open house
2007-Oct-29 | posted by mosh
in keeping with the tradition of open houses during the syawal period, i had a discussion with rotinotti the other day about having a virtual open house. just like a real life open house, we can serve the visitors with entries of foodies and interact with everybody around. with ideas bouncing back and forth, these are the final draft ideas that we came up with:
not really in writing mood today so somehow the entry sounds stale and colourless. but need to submit this to get everybody's feedback. so people, what do you think? comments and more comments are very much welcomed.
- venue: the best place to hold an open house is in this blog. all the authors of the blog will be the hosts and we can invite as many friends to our heart's content. i don't think we need to worry about space constraints would be our problem here.
- activities: for the hosts, interact with the guests and submit any raya-themed entries as you'd love too. that can include foodies, raya stories and raya fictions, if you have anything interesting to share. guests can leave comments and it would be good to have a chatbox (calling pb and the master of blog) here for general purpose interactions not directly related to entries being submitted.
- date/ time: i propose to have a fixed date/ time slot for one hour on weekdays, preferably during lunch hour malaysian time :D. it'll be chaotically fun to have many cross channel communications in the blog. and i don't think people can spare more time than that on working days. or at least they shouldn't.

I'm surfing the net.
I'm having major blank mind for blog syndrome, but I'd leave you with this ad I found online, just seconds ago.
"I am a student I am 23 year old. I am seeking a girlfriend who has sense of human and speak a good english.I prefer a british or a lady who was born in london
no picture no reply"
Any takers?
ha ha ha ha.
Now I know most girls in London have no sense of humanity? ha ha ha ha.

Ok.
I just got a message from PB to cover her, 8,8.30,9pm.
But thing is, I got the message at 8.43pm msia time, cause I asked cikbee what time is it in Malaysia right now. My heads in the clouds at the moment and I'm as always slack at time difference.
I don't know if this gonna be the last one or would there be double last ones. Ha ha.
Anyways, here I am, doing the last post for Pb, maybe.
It's been quite a bit chaotic for this year isn't it? Last year I was the cheering pompom girl for PB as much as I can and both being really laidback without work last year, it was quite possible. This year, Pb is going on different sites, jalan-jalan satu Malaya (yeah, yeah I know, jalan-jalan bekerja :)) and being summoned at the last minute to work when she had arranged for this blogathon but Alhamdullilah all pitch in and I had great fun of all reading Nazrah's entries cause it's just amusing.
Everyone pitch in the best they could, mine was ridiculous as I read it again this morning and it must have been in the rush last night cause I was so tired, all these endless rains down here, being a temporary landlord for two weeks whilst landlord was away, and losing much desired sleep and worrying about and all are really tiring me out. And last night,I was chased after a mini pitbull with it's owner as I was walking out from Mrs AS residential area to the bus stop. Damn dog owners, they just add on to my tiredness!
Ok just asked cik bee what's the time ada 8 minutes to 9pm.
Thank you all, thank you for your contributions, I'm sure PB appreciated it so much especially pulling it all off to be a success at the last minute when she's worrying about it :).
From stories about nothingness, about pets and family and women's secrets and tips and pictures that makes up for long entries and various other entries, thanks for staying up and as I heard there was even the conference on ym to support one another etc etc, you all rock! and hopefully, we raised a good sum for our cause, Raudhatus Sakinah :)

my ears are failing me. loads of occasions where it's evident.
one such occasion was during a phone call
me: hello?
the other end: Wai Kai na?
me: huh?
Chinese Dude at the other end: Wai Kai na?
me: sorry. wrong number.
Chinese Dude who turned out to be my brother: Wai kai na? hey, it's Abun la! Awak kat mane? (where are you?)
me: *laughs uncontrollably*
sounds the same, right?
wai kai na... awak kat mane
now how am i going to go about with my attachments when i can't even understand my own brother?
or maybe that's how teenagers talk. all mumble and the odd grunt.
***
Abun is actually my youngest brother. we used to call him Baby. Then it became Abi. Then when he gets on our nerves, we'd call him Abun (short for baboon...)
